    Insert the paper clip into the pinhole. Inside the drive, directly behind the pinhole, is small gear that, when rotated, will begin to manually open the drive.

    Remove and reinsert the paper clip as often as needed to eject the drive bay enough to grab hold of it.
    Slowly pull into the drive bay until it's fully retracted. Take care not to pull too quickly or to continue to pull when you feel resistance.

    Run Device Manager. From the Start Menu, type in Device in the search bar at the bottom.

    I then select the pictures I wish to transfer and then drag them over to the E drive window onto the blank disc. Then the computer transfers these pictures without a promlem and I am able to view the pictures now on the disc.

    For most Blu-ray players, you need to only select "Netflix" from the main menu and then sign in to your account to open the Web interface. Sony devices require registration with the Essentials Internet Video On Demand website, accessible from the Network menu in the Xross Media Bar panel. After registering your device, the main menu displays the same Netflix option available on other compatible Blu-ray players. Select this option and then use your remote control to enter your email address and password into the Netflix sign-in form. To play a Blu-ray disc, insert it into the player and press "Disc Menu" or a similar option on the remote control. From the disc menu, select "Play Movie" or select a scene from the Chapters menu.

    But recently it would not do this command. The 'cd writing wizard' would report to me that I needed to insert a blank disc which I had already placed in the tray. I tried different makes of discs, restarted my computer just in case it had a minor glitch, cleaned the laser head, tried different programs to see if anything had change without me knowing about it etc, etc, but to no avail. After much hair pulling, swearing and so on, I tried a program called 'Set program access and defaults' in 'all programs', clicked on 'add and remove program' and saw it was set on 'custom' as default (and will do so everytime I go into this program) then clicked on 'Microsoft Window'. I tried the above again and this time it transfered my pictures to the disc without a problem as it always use to.

    When CD drives became affordable enough for consumers, their greatest advantage was that they could store vastly more data than the floppy disk. While a high-density 3.5-inch floppy disk could store 1.44MB of data, a CD-ROM stored up to 650MB.     It’s not unusual for your optical drive to be working just fine in a previous version of Windows or Windows 10, then the minute you upgrade to a new version, it stops working. The first thing you can do is check Windows Update then install the latest drivers if there are any.     If you're using a compatible disc and you don't see it from Remote Disc, make sure the sharing computer is turned on, is connected to the same network as your Mac, and has a compatible CD or DVD in its optical drive. If you've enabled the option to ask for permission before using the drive, click Accept on the computer that is sharing its optical drive.

    Close out of all applications and make sure that you have saved anything that needs to be saved. Restart your computer. As soon as it starts loading back up, even before you see the Windows loading screen, start pressing the eject button on the drive.

    If you are using a slot loading drive (MacBook), this would be the eject button on your keyboard. Don’t hold the button down. Push it repeatedly and rapidly, like it’s the A button and your on level 10 of Mario Bros trying to beat Bowser. Believe it or not, this works a lot of the time. M DISC BD-R media is compatible with the latest Blu-ray hardware from leading manufacturers – no special drives required for recording or playback. However, if you want to use M DISC DVD for archiving, you do need to select a drive that is M DISC compatible.

    The previously released Apple Watch 1 is rated at IPX7, meaning that it isn't dust resistant but that it offers water resistance equivalent to that of the iPhone 7 series.     Remove the CD, DVD, or BD disc from the drive. Slowly push the drive bay back into the drive until closed or press the open/close button if the drive is still working.

    If impact resistance is important to you, you might want to check out so-called "ruggedized" phones such as Caterpillar's Android-based CAT S40. List-priced at about $400, this IP68-rated phone has survived tests involving repeated 6-foot drops onto concrete.     The problem caused because the USB drive is not recognized by Windows PE (Windows Preinstallation Environment ). Windows PE is built on Windows 7 kernel and is used to prepare a computer for Windows installation. So if the USB drive is not recognized by Windows PE, you may encounter this problem and cannot install the system. Try solutions below to fix the problem.

    Just to add another solution. I was having difficulty installing a large custom built image of Windows 7 Professional from a USB stick on a number of HP 280 G2 MT computers for the company I work for.

    An audio CD stores music as binary code -- zeros and ones -- just like the code used by computers.     You may access the system registry by running the Registry Editor. To do that, simply go Start>Run and type "regedit" in the Run dialog box.

    If your Mac doesn't have a built-in optical drive and you need to use a CD or DVD, you can connect an external drive like the Apple USB SuperDrive. You can also share discs from the optical drive of another Mac, or from a Windows computer that has DVD or CD Sharing Setup installed. DVD or CD sharing allows you to access documents stored on these discs, and allows you to install some software.

    Optical drives can either be internal or external, and it’s an important choice when deciding which optical drive to buy. Internal drives are actually placed inside your computer, connected via an IDE or SATA port. Internal drives are usually more affordable and have higher read/write speeds. However, installation can be difficult and for some laptops, impossible, given the ultra-slim profile of some newer models.
    External drives, on the other hand, exist outside of your computer and connect to your computer via a USB or FireWire port. They can either pull power from your computer itself or from a separate power outlet. Typically, they are more compact, more portable, and can fit easily into a laptop bag. However, due to external connectivity, they may have slightly lower read/write speeds compared to internal drives.

    Installing Windows 7 with a Flash USB drive is by far the easiest and fastest way of installing Windows OS. But in the same time, a common issue “A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing” would occur during the installation, which makes you feel more confused because you even don’t have a disk drive. Though the error message is saying the problem was caused by missing drivers, you have to know this might be not driver problem. Read on to find the answer and solutions to fix this problem.

    This zip file contains all of the Intel® Ethernet network drivers and software for currently supported versions of Windows*, Linux*, and FreeBSD* for most Intel® Ethernet Adapters as found on the accompanying CD. Not all Intel® Ethernet Adapters and Intel® Ethernet Controllers are supported under every version of Windows, Linux, or FreeBSD.

    This is a large file. We recommend downloading smaller files for your operating system if you do not need software for every OS.

    Turn the computer off. Remove the sides of your PC by taking out the screws at the back of the case and sliding the sides backwards (illustration A).

    The CD/DVD drive will either be held in place by four screws or rail mounted (B). If it is the former, remove the screws. If it is the latter, remove the front of the case by pulling the bottom of the front panel away. There may be plastic clips visible on the inside of the case, holding the front on. If so, unclip them as you pull.

    Click Start > Run. Type in " sysdm.cpl " into the dialog box that it shows. Click okay and it should bring you to a "System Properties" dialog box.

    Virtual CloneDrive works and behaves just like a physical CD, DVD, or Blu-ray drive, although it only exists virtually. Image files can be "inserted" into the virtual drive from your harddisk or from a network drive by just a double-click, and thus be used like a normal CD, DVD, or Blu-ray. Virtual CloneDrive supports up to 15 virtual drives at the same time - no matter if the image file contains audio, video or just simple data. Virtual CloneDrive is fully integrated in Windows Explorer context menus and on top of all it is free!

    At first, I put in the cd and there's a yellow light appears just for 2 seconds and it stopped. It didnt even spin the disc. I have tried putting in recordable disc, CD-R, DVD and even the Resource cd, it still didnt detect one of these discs.

    Another important factor in deciding which drive to buy is the format you want to work in. Today most drives work with multiple formats, but it is still important to make sure the drive you’re buying is compatible with the media types you want to use. Some common formats most drives now support are DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, and DVD-ROM. Some less common formats include DVD-RAM, DVD+R/DVD-R Dual Layer and miniDVD. If you’d like to work with Blu-ray discs, make sure you get a drive that is Blu-ray compatible. Generally, if you’re unsure what media type you’ll be working with, choosing a drive that works with multiple media types may be your best option.

    Im using Dell Inspiron 6000, Win XP and my cd drive's name is TSSTcorp CDRW/DVD TSL462C (it appears in the device manager). After I clicked on TSSTcorp CDRW/DVD TSL462C, under the device status, it says that :

    Step 2: Go to the tab "Hardware" and click "Device Manager" once there locate your driver. Mine was called "DVD/CD-ROM drives." Double-click it to show it's contents and there should be another device under it. Mine had an question mark but in some cases it might have an exclamation point next to the name. Mine was called "AOPEN DUW1608/ARR" but if your's is different, it's okay.

    Step 3: Double-click the newly revealed hardward "AOPEN DUW1608/ARR" and it's own dialog box will appear. Go to the "Driver" tab and select "Update Driver..." from the buttons below.

    Step 4: Now, select "Install from a list or specific location" and click Next. In the next box select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" and again, click next. A different box will show with compatible hardware for your driver. I selected from the bottom believing it was the most recent, it was called "CD-ROM Drive [IMAPI settings 1,5]." Click next and finish the instructions it gives you.

    Regardless of what's happening, or what you think might be happening, there's no reason to rush out and replace the disc or drive just because the eject button doesn't do what you expected it to do.

    I was getting the same error as mentioned in this article what turned out to be due to Windows 7 not having the required USB drivers for the HP 280 G2 MT computers, Thus No USB driver = No USB Install.

    The solution for me was to install 1 computer with the standard version of Windows 7 from the official DVD, and then install the USB 3 Drivers afterwards from HP’s site burnt to a CD. (Had no USB support whatsoever initially!)

    CD (Compact Disc) Writers are simply optical disc drives (ODD) that use laser light or electromagnetic waves to record and read compact discs. A CD writer driver is the software protocol employed to facilitate communication between the peripheral CD writer and the operating system or PC. The CD writer driver provides the CD writer with instructions to properly record items such as CDs, DVDs, HD DVDs, Blue Ray Discs or software. The CD writer or recorder typically encodes or burns the data on a blank recordable disc, known as CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, or BD-R.

    The laptop features a 15.4-inch "BrightView" widescreen display powered by an Nvidia GeForce Go 8400M GS GPU capable of displaying a resolution of 1200x800. Audio is handled by an internal 3D Sound Blaster Pro compatible sound card and built-in Altec Lansing stereo speakers. The DV6700t also has a built-in HP Pavilion webcam with an integrated microphone and one audio jack.

    When the user decides to record a CD using the CD writer, the CD writer driver translates the command from the computer and then activates the CD writer to begin the CD writing process. Based upon the original disc, the computer will issue a series of commands to instruct the CD writer on how to burn a replica of the disc. The CD writer driver facilitates the communication between the computer and the CD writer. Using this process, the CD writer will burn the disc exactly as the original.

    I then burnt the following folder to a CD “C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\iusb3xhc.inf_amd64_neutral_…” from the computer that I installed from the official Windows 7 DVD.

    I then used this CD with the iusb3xhc driver on to load the USB driver for all the other USB based installs with the custom built Windows 7 image.

    Thanks for the effort guys but none of your suggestions worked, but I still fixed it.
    I tried: replugging, USB 2.0, USB 3.0 (I have both types), disabling/auto/enable USB stuff in BIOS, used the Intel 3.0 tool (my USB drive did not even show up so I couldn’t put drivers on it, I just had a weird X: directory).

    What helped me in the end was going to the homepage of my motherboard manufacturer (MSI in my case, pun intended) and they had a tool that was designed to make the W7 installation from a stick work. Was called “MSI Smart Tool” but other manufacturers have something like this too. You just use it on your ready-to-install stick and the programme adds everything to make it work right out of the box. But it only worked with the MSI tool, when I tried it with another manufacturer’s tool it did not work so go to the motherbord’s site and search for it – they likely have people calling them because of stuff like that on a daily basis.

    Some CD writers are plug and play depending upon the operating system and the brand. Others require drivers. If the CD writer is not recording properly, check the equipment to determine if the problem is mechanical. If the CD writer is external make sure that it is connected properly. If the problem is not mechanical and is connected properly, it may be a corrupt driver.

    If the driver is corrupted, missing, or in conflict with another driver then try reinstalling the existing driver. If the existing driver continues to give you problems, obtain a new driver from the original manufacturer and install the upgraded driver. If the problems persist, revert to an existing driver.

    Early Windows 10 updates may cause driver installs to time out or fail due to extended wait time (up to 4 minutes per Ethernet port). In most cases, despite the timeout, the driver installs correctly and is usable.

    Your computer or laptop needs one of two types of CD/DVD drives: SATA or IDE. The most foolproof way to see what type of drive your computer can take is to open it up and take a look at the drive or drives it’s currently using. You’ll need to carry out this task before you can replace or add any disc drive in your desktop computer.

    Although the CD-ROM disc was undoubtedly the top medium for portable data storage in the 1990s, it wasn't long before DVDs -- and later, the wide availability of broadband Internet connections -- made CD drives obsolete. CD drives have become less common because CDs store significantly less data than DVDs. The cost difference between CD and DVD drives is negligible. The first thing you can do is check Windows Update then install the latest drivers if there are any. For example, Microsoft released updates for the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and version 1511 that resolved problems with optical drives. In this case, the cause of the problem was also the solution.

    Click "System and Security" followed by "System." Alternatively, right-click "My Computer" from your desktop and launch "Properties" to arrive at the screen in question.

    Launch the "Advanced System Settings" to the left menu. Select the "Hardware" tab and launch "Device Manager."

    Expand the "DVD/CD-ROM Drives" category select the CD-ROM in question. Click "Action" at the top screen menu and select "Update Driver Software." You may also double-click the device, go to the "Driver" tab and select "Update Driver."

    Select "Search automatically for updated driver software" to have Windows look for the latest CD-ROM driver available on your computer and the Internet. Otherwise, select "Browse my computer for driver software" to perform a manual CD-ROM driver search.

    Click "Browse" to locate any available device driver. Select the path where your CD-ROM driver resides. Click "OK" followed by "Next." If the latest CD-ROM driver is already installed, Windows will notify you. Otherwise it will update the CD-ROM driver in question. Click "Close" when the driver Wizard finishes.

    There's no CD drive on his computer. He built it himself, so he opted out of that one. As I said, he had a wireless adaptor before, but it's not here now.

    So the computer is not connected to the internet (I'm writing this on my laptop that doesn't need the adapter -- I need his computer to use for gaming while he's gone.) In order to install the software to actually connect the adapter without using the CD, you need to connect to the internet. Which I cannot do, as the computer needs the adapter to connect to the internet in the first place.

    Slide the drive forwards out of the case. If it is rail mounted, there may be metal clips on the front that need to be depressed before the drive will move.

    Look at the back of the drive to find out which sort of drive you need to buy. If there is a long socket with 20 pairs of pins and a smaller socket with four large pins, the drive is an IDE drive. If the drive has two smaller, L-shaped plastic connectors, it is an SATA.

    Slide the replacement drive into the case and reconnect the cables. The cables should be refitted as they were when you removed the faulty drive.

    If the drive is rail mounted, transfer the rails on to the new drive before fitting. They should unclip or unscrew from the old drive and can be fitted to the new drive in the same position. Replace the screws in the side of the drive and replace the front of the case if necessary. Slide the sides of the case back into position and replacing the screws.

    If you use release 20.7 drivers during OS install to iSCSI LUN using Intel® XL710 for iSCSI connection, deployment of Windows Server R2* from an installation server or media may be terminated by crash after first platform reboot from WinPE* environment when using iSCSI boot procedure.

    I have been trying to install Windows 7 on a Lenovo G50-80 but I keep getting this error message "a CD/DVD driver is missing" right after I have selected language in the install process. I have tried updating bios to the newest version and slipstreaming both the chipset and the USB3.0 drivers to the install disk. I have tried installing from both USB2.0 stick, and a external USB DVD drive. Also when I slipstreamed the chipset drivers I noticed that "Windows Toolkit" claims that the USB2.0 drivers in the chipset are not campatible with Windows 7. No matter what I seem to do or what settings I use i bios I can not get past this driver error. Please help me.
