Molex’s flex PCB antenna is a cost-efficient solution combined with the opportunity to integrate components such as speakers, LED’s, switches and more via reflow- and assembly processes. The flex PCB antenna manufacturing allows 2.5D design freedom, can be combined with in-molded metal pieces and cosmetic labels or coatings. Molex has extensive antenna and design experience; with more than 400 million flex PCB antenna assemblies shipped.
Molex's manufacturing capabilities span low-cost, fully-automatic R2R assembly operations for high-volume projects to semi-automatic assembly operation for smaller scale projects. Regardless of the option chosen, the final step of the manufacturing line is an in-line, 100% RF and audio (optional) pass/fail test before packaging. Based on a modular set-up, the assembly lines allow quick ramp-up and capacity increase.
LS2003E is a complete standalone GPS smart antenna module, including embedded patch antenna and GPS receiver circuits. The module is powered by MediaTek GPS chip and can acquire a lot of satellites at a time while providing fast time-to-first-fix and low power consumption. Besides, it can provide you with superior sensitivity and performance even in urban canyon and dense foliage environment.
This module supports hybrid ephemeris prediction to achieve faster cold start. One is self-generated ephemeris prediction (called EASY) that is no need of both network assistance and host CPU’s intervention. This is valid for up to 3 days and updates automatically from time to time when GPS module is powered on and satellites are available. The other is server-generated ephemeris prediction (called EPO) that gets from an internet server. This is valid for up to 14 days. Both ephemeris predictions are stored in the on-board flash memory and perform a cold start time less than 15 seconds.
It is easy to install without both RF connector and coaxial cable that are needed in a separated GPS active antenna. In other words, reduce the cost and size. Also, speed up the time to market by eliminating R&D efforts on RF matching and stability between separated GPS antenna and module. Furthermore, it can be directly powered by a lithium battery without any external voltage regulars. Therefore, LS2003E of miniature size and brilliant performance is the best choice to be integrated into your slim devices.

Some car windshields and windows may contain metal, which may block or weaken the satellite signals
That is the most inaccurate method of navigation. This way your smartphone provides you with location data based on triangulated location of the closest cellular towers. Most operators have detailed info on their towers’ locations that can give you approx. locations data to you since such towers can be located too far away from each other. This is more urban-oriented approach that works best in big cities with high concentration of towers and strong signal.
Both WiFi and Cellular approaches are used as an indoor methods of positioning. They won’t give you the highest accuracy, but able to assist your A-GPS data for the most precise location.

The GPS is a system of satellites owned by US government that provides positioning, navigation, and timing services for every device able to connect to them. There are currently 27 satellites that broadcast a time stamp on their current location and time the signal was produced with frequency of every 30 seconds.
To learn your location your mobile GPS receiver needs to get signals from at least 3-4 satellites and calculate with approximacy of up to 10 meters the latitude, longitude, and elevation of your positioning according to the current time.
Any modern smartphone has a GPS receiver that accepts such messages and uses data to calculate the distance with speed of light info (radio signal) and time this signal was sent. Voila!
But that’s even not a half of it! GPS signal recognition and positioning are a tough challenge for smartphone, so here are 4 main ways your mobile identifies your location:
GPS
Initially smartphones could connect directly to satellites and calculate the distance to at least 3 of them to provide you with your location data. The data is transmitted via radio signals and such technology is most used now for vehicles, planes, boats etc. The accuracy of such data is low that’s why Assisted Global Positioning System was developed for smartphone usage.
It demands more time (at least 20 seconds to connect with satellites) and runs the battery down very fast. Not used nowadays.

GPS: let’s turn the inside out
As a slight forewarn for that article: you won’t find a fundamental research on technical aspects of the GPS. Instead we’ll investigate the way it operates and share hacks how data accuracy can be improved.
GPS stands for Global Positioning System developed by the US government that became available for free usage in 1995 and first was used for the US military purposes.
It’s one of the rare government projects that you can definitely say we’ve gotten bang for our buck,
So my first idea was to combine a microcontroller with a GSM and a GPS modul. There are a lot of these modules over at Sparkfun, for example. Looking through their shop I found the Telit GM862, which is a GSM modul with an built in GPS receiver. That is what I wanted. And they sell great break out boards to make it easier for hobbyist to access these modules.

My goal is to build a kind of a mobile tracker. There are many different use cases you can think of but one of the obvious is a device, that is able to report where it is. This device can be put in your car and it could trigger an alarm, if the car got stolen. Actually it could tell you where it is.
There are already mobile tracking devices out there, but they seemed to be too expensive and too closed for my needs. Another option is one of these new Nokia N95 which have built-in GPS. They are really nice, but about 600€, which is not a bargain. So I decided to do my own.
